Delete your account

You can request deletion of your Landaways account and associated data at any time. There are two ways to do it — directly inside the app, or by emailing us if you can no longer sign in.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the Landaways app
This is the fastest method. Your account and data are removed from our systems immediately.
- Open the Landaways app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top right.
- Tap Manage Account.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Once you confirm, your account is permanently deleted — we cannot recover it.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app (for example, you have uninstalled it or forgotten your password), email us and we will process the deletion manually.
Send an email to landaways@gmail.com with:
- The subject line "Account deletion request".
- The email address you used to create your Landaways account.
- (Optional) The name on your profile, to help us locate your account.
We will confirm the request within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account we remove:
- Your profile (name, bio, profile picture, home airfield)
- Your email address and authentication record
- Your logged flights, including GPS tracks and notes
- Your bookmarked airfields
- Your friend connections and friend requests
- Your follower / following relationships
- Your FCM push-notification token
- Any live-flight record that was active at the time of deletion
What we may retain
After your account is deleted we retain a limited amount of data:
- Community contributions — Airfield review or POI report content you submitted may remain visible to other pilots, but is anonymised so it is no longer linked to you.
- Aggregated / anonymised analytics — Crash reports and usage statistics that cannot be traced back to you.
- Legal / safety records — Where we are legally required to retain records (for example, abuse or fraud reports), we keep the minimum needed for up to 12 months.
Retention period
Account data deleted through the in-app option is removed from our live database immediately. Backups are rotated automatically, and any residual copies are purged within 30 days. After that date, your account and associated personal data no longer exist in our systems (except for the limited categories listed above).
